    United Nations Kazakhstan calls to “Think equal. Build smart. Innovate for change” to empower women and girls of Kazakhstan Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the global push for gender equality and women’s empowerment. The theme for International Women’s Day 2019 is “Think equal. Build smart. Innovate for change.” By exploring the ways in which innovation can work for gender equality, we boost investment in gender-responsive social systems, and build public services and infrastructure that meet the needs of women and girls.


    For 70 years, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has been a global beacon – shining a light for dignity, equality and well-being … and bringing hope to dark places. The rights proclaimed in the Declaration apply to everyone -- no matter our race, belief, location or other distinction of any kind.

  • The Government of Kazakhstan, United Nations, Asian Development Bank and World Bank meet to discuss SDGs monitoring and reporting

    24-25 September, 2018, Borovoye, Kazakhstan – Representatives from the Government of Kazakhstan, the United Nations (UN), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank (WB) met to discuss and further advance the monitoring and reporting of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Kazakhstan.

  • A Long Road to Citizenship

    Bishkek, 12 September 2018 – Today, people who newly became Kyrgyz citizens received national passport at the ceremony organized jointly by the Representation of the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR), the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government in Osh province, and the Department of Registration of Population and Acts of Civil Status of the State Registration Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. These people are former stateless persons.

  • National architecture on SDGs established in Kazakhstan

    Astana, Kazakhstan. The national architecture on Sustainable Development Goals has been officially established in Kazakhstan by the Prime Minister’s Decree. This includes a Coordination Council on SDGs under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister, and five inter-sectoral working groups headed by national coordinators corresponding to 5 P’s of Sustainable Development (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership).
